Highland Events Rogaine – Event Notes and Rules
Please Read Carefully
No fires, smoking or open flames.
Dogs are NOT to be brought to the event.
Please respect the landowner's property and privacy. Their support and cooperation for permitting access to their properties is very generous. We do not in any way wish to jeopardise the fantastic relationship that we have established with the landowners for this event. We have a positive reputation with the landowners and the community which we wish to continue.
You must respect the landowner's property. Cross fences at posts or climb through the wire. Re-close any gates that are shut. If climbing over a gate, climb over at the hinged end.
If you come across any person in trouble, it is your duty to ensure that the situation is under control before moving on.
Absolutely no navigational aids, ie. GPS's, Altimeters, i-phones or any other aids of this nature. Navigational aids are compass and competition map only. We will be doing spot checks at the race briefing.
In the event of a competitor having to withdraw from the event, the whole team must return to event HeadQuarters and report to event organizers before returning to the field.
Points will be deducted from teams arriving at the finish after their allotted time -
10 points per minute . Any team finishing more than 30mins late will be disqualified
Any team going into out of bounds areas will be disqualified. Shaded areas on the competition map are out of bounds
Competitors travelling on roads must obey normal road rules.
All team members must travel together, within 50 meters of one another at all times. A team shall demonstrate compliance with this requirement to any official or other team on request. Teams not obeying this rule will be disqualified
All members of teams must visit the checkpoints and shall simultaneously approach to within 50 meters, and within sight, of each checkpoint for which points are claimed.
You must be responsible for your own wellbeing by having suitable food, water, clothing and equipment with you. Competitors shall not discard any litter.
Plan your course well. Rogaining is as much about careful route choice and navigation as it is about physical endurance.
The rivers can be quite swift streams and quite deep in places. They are crossable in many places, only cross if you feel confident. Look to see if there is a bridge and listen to instructions at Race Briefing.
Note: Neither the organizers nor the landowners accept liability for any accident or injury to participants during the event. The 'Team Contact' on the entry form must ensure all team members are aware that they participate at their own risk and all team members have signed the Waiver.
Cell Phone would be handy in emergency. There is cell phone coverage from most high points.
