3x1 Loop Event Northburn100
Saturday 19th-20th March 2022
NEW EVENT - Loop-1 50km/ Loop-2 60km/ Loop-3 50km
We have a NEW EVENT - this is the “3x1 Loop” Event of the Northburn100 -
What does that mean??
It means that over 5 years - you will have the opportunity to cover 160kms (100miles) over 3 separate years. For those that have completed the 50km event before - CONGRATULATIONS you have already completed Loop-1!!! And this year you will have the opportunity for entering in and completing the 2nd Loop of the Northburn100 - Loop-2 60km - this event will START at 2pm on Saturday19th March. The timing will put you in the middle of the field of those that are completing the distances of 100km and the 100mile - and it is designed to give you the opportunity to get the FULL experience of the 2nd Loop!
Then in subsequent years we will open up the Loop-3 50km which will start at 3am on the Sunday morning - (this is not available in 2022) -
The idea is that over the 5 years you will race the 3 loops in the order that a 100miler competitor would race them, at the times of the day and night when the milers are coming through the base area. It is also the opportunity for those that enjoy the 50/60km distance to cover different parts of the course that they would not get the chance to do otherwise.
Everyone that completes the 3 Loops within 5 years will receive a Bronze Buckle!
In anticipation of FAQs
I have completed 50km at Northburn but it was over 5 years ago, what does that mean for me?
You still qualify for this event! The 5 year limit is from now on, so anyone that has completed the 50km Northburn event has now got 5 years from NOW to complete the other two loops.
What if I entered but didn’t complete the 50km course in the past?
Sorry - you will only be able to enter Loop-2 if you have COMPLETED Loop-1.
Do I have to do the Loops in order?
Yes - you do Loop-1 then you will be able to enter Loop-2 sometime in the future, and then when you have completed both Loop-1 and Loop-2 you will be able to enter in the Loop-3 event.
What if I’ve completed the 100km Event - does that count as having done Loop-1 and Loop-2?
No / Kinda - Past 100km competitors who completed the 50km first Loop will be able to count this as Loop-1. Due to the management of this event, and the fact that the Loop-2 has changed over time, we have decided to treat the 100km Event as something different. The first Loop-1 has always remained the same - so we are happy to have past 50km, and 100km competitors count this as completing Loop-1 -
Are the Loops timed by the Timer?
Yes they will be timed - but the reward is completing the 3 Loops within 5 years.
Are there category prizes for the winners of the Loop-1 50km?
Yes - because you will be competing as a 50km competitor - and this is a Race within the Northburn100 Event - you are counted as a 50km entrant
Are their category prizes for the winners of the Loop-2 60km?
No - if you decide to enter the Loop-2 60km, you are expressing your interest in competing in the 3x1 Loop Event in which EVERYONE who completes the 3 Loops within 5 years will receive a BRONZE buckle. There is no separate prizes or winners of the individual Loop-2 or Loop-3 events.
What if I don’t complete Loop-2 60km in 2022?
That’s fine - you still have time to come back over the next 4 years and try again, and then still have time to do Loop-3 further down the track.
We anticipate that at this stage we may not have covered all the questions here - so please get in touch if you have any further questions.
